So, I am reading the new Oprah pick, Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth". And, it is good. I have read many books with a similar idea. Now, here is the issue....there is a lot about ego. Recognizing that it gets sucked into most of our thoughts. And, to be aware of it and separate yourself from it. Always try to be present. Fine. I can do that. NO PROBLEM. Anyway, what I realized though...is when you are doing a talk show, those ego'd REAL thoughts are what make the show. They really do. And, I don't want to compromise being REAL.
Funny, yesterday we were talking about those chicks on the Southwest flight who said they were discriminated against because they were too pretty. And, my co-host asked me if I ever discriminated against anyone for that reason. And, I said YES. The tramp intern who wore her "I love wieners" half shirt to work that had a wiener dog logo on it. In reality, I didn't discriminate. It was more of an "I wish I could wear that shirt" feeling. But, it WAS a funny topic. So, if I would have used this whole stepping away from the ego stuff they are talking about in the book...well, it would have been VERY boring to talk about. Instead, we spun it into who thinks they are TOO PRETTY and were discriminated against. It was hilarious, women admitting to this.
So, I guess I can separate being REAL and caddy for the show. And then in my everyday off air life, just continue to try and be the best person that I can. However, I am thinking I shouldn't compromise having a boring show for saying what most people are thinking...
And, the wiener dog girl...I never discriminated at all. In fact, I think I tried to help her. Because I have had women who have been meanies, too. For no reason except being threatened when they had NO REASON to be.
Sorry so boring, this is just the weird dialogue happening in my head at 3:20am when I am having trouble sleeping....

Sorry you are having trouble sleeping. And I think it's great that you can say what most people cannot. And YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON. Even when you are being mean you are still nicer than most people. Face it girl, You're Awesome!
