A New Gig!

December 1, 2007 / by mereonair

Yes, I knew things were changing for quite some time.  I had been anticipating a big change really.  I just wasn't sure what that would be.  And, now FINALLY I can tell you what is going on with me.  I will try to make it quick, I promise.

So, my contract was up in October.  They made some changes to our morning show.  And, my bosses asked me to renew, which I was very happy about.  Now, I was wanting to make sure I kept a good on-air role.  And, since there have been soooo many changes, that wasn't a guarantee.  So, they gave me some time to explore while still working the morning show.  I went on an interview in Denver and I loved the guy I interviewed with, just not the right fit for either of us.  I am happy to say, there are still REALLY great people in Radio.  I explored a few different opportunities.  However, I am lucky enough to have a station in the same building which is kind of my calling(no joke).  It is an FM Female Talk format.  The whole station has kind of "The View" type vibe.  It is hip, it can get dirty :), and I don't have to hold back on the air.  AND, it is a station that is attempting a format that no one else is doing.  They are kind of a pioneer to Female Talk.  How cool is that?  Well, I was lucky enough to be offered a Co-Host gig with another woman named Stephanie.  It is in the afternoon, so I get to sleep in!  And, it is talk.  Therefore, I will be doing MUCH of the same type of content that I have been doing on my current show, but we get to jump in a little deeper.  So, there you go.  I don't have to move, I get to sleep in, my show is shorter than the morning show, and most importantly...I WILL HAVE A LIFE.

I wasn't soooo excited, until I finally made the decision.  And, how freeing making a decision can be.  Sometimes you end up right where you are suppose to be.  And, you can't even explain it.  However, I suppose we all have a purpose.

Okay, enough boring work talk, I GOT TO SEE MY FAM AND FRIENDS.  Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving weekend.  Just an update, my nephew no longer likes me to call him NATE-Dogg.  I think it is cool, he says "Aunt Mere, I am NOT A DOG."  SO, I must respect the little dood's wishes and find a new nickname.  Also, I was happily introduced to Toni and Rich's new lil guy, Ryan.  She has 2 boys now, how fun is that.  Here are a few pics...:

Wow!  Lot's of kids...how did that happen?  That is me and Nate.  Followed by Lil Ryan and I.  And, finally, Toni and Jacob.

And, here is just a pic before I went out...

Sorry it took so long to blog.  BUT, everything going on in my life wasn't really up for public discussion until I made some decisions.  I hope you understand.  Okay, I must go workout.  I miss y'all!

You are definitely hotter than you were in college and it looks like you're working out is paying off. I LOVE that your new gig will allow you to have a life and enjoy the subject matter that you get to cover. You are going to be fantastic at this new show!!! [THUMBUP][HEART][HEART][HEART]

They made a horrible mistake. No disrespect to the new woman, but she is just TOO way over the top. I can't take that laugh. And then last week when she was making fun of what is sold at Fleet Farm -- total disrepect of her new audience. I was a very small town guy growing up and now have been a city kid for 20+ years. I know Minnesotans (including those in the city and burbs) ain't always exactly ready to hang out with those really cool NYC, LA, or even Tampa sophisticates, but don't come in to our house and make fun of us.

Meredith, you are a major loss to that show. Even before Ms. Kaye departed, your voice and personality was always one of my favorites. Now, all I can do when I hear the cackle of their newest member is quickly change the channel. Best of luck in the new gig.
