Happy Valentine's Day.

February 14, 2008 / by mereonair

So, here we are, Valentine's Day again.  I used to be such a sucker for this day.  I LUVED it.  I still could.  I assume IF I found that perfect person who I wanted to spend every second with, I would be into it.  And, maybe that won't happen again.  So, maybe this day is for me :)  I think I will get a manicure and eyebrow wax...or something for myself.  I have been so busy I have put everything ahead of what I really need anyway.  So, I am assuming I am not too selfish.  I was at Target a couple of weeks ago, and I almost bought the "Grey's Anatomy" Valentine's cards.  I used to give those kid cards out at work.  BUT, since I don't know everyone at the new station that well, I felt like my heart just wasn't in it.  And, my spirit on Valentine's Day just isn't the same.  Now, I am not at all negative.  In fact, I would say I am hopeful.  However, I just DON'T need anyone.  I believe I can have a great day hanging with real friends.  We have been talking about all this on the air the past week or so.  I am thinking my new show divulges wayyyy too much.

Now, let me tell you about one of MY BEST Valentine's Days ever.  I was out of work, I was still in Austin, I just turned 30, I had no one.  So, my friend Traci and I decided we were going to just pig out binge eat homemade cookies and watch the series finale of "Sex and the City".  So, we went to HEB(grocery), got everything we needed for 3 batches of chocolate/chocolate chip cookies.  We ate most of them before we even baked them.  And, then ate the last batch AFTER we baked them.  We either TIVO'd the last "Sex and the City" or it aired on Valentine's Day....I can't quite remember.  But, Traci had martini's, I had flavored water.  And, it was SOOOO FREEEING not needing any man to have a great day.  I even think we carried over our food binge into making smores on the living room floor with one of those home smores kits, and a final trip the next morning to Trudy's Tex Mex brunch.  Mmmmmm....I have no idea how I didn't turn into the biggest hoarker in Austin.  Serioulsy.

Okay, well I hope you have a great Valentine's Day.  And, whoever you are, know how much I DO CARE ABOUT YOU.  (I luv people and maybe you are lonely?).  I will have to post some pics today.  But, first, I need to shower and go to work.

Happy Valnetine's Day, Meredith! I love your plan to get a manicure and eyebrow wax. Something just for you. And I think it would be okay for you to get one cookie today too. My co-workers are all into V-Day. I got a Rose and a funny card from Peter - he gave one to all the women in the office, a Hell Kitty card from the accountant, and a sugar cookie from the graphics guy. I gave a couple of the girls some freebies from Curves.

At least you aren't getting those stuffed animals anymore! LOL!

HA!  Now that was funny.  Damn...we really have known each other a REALLY long time.  Just you mentioning it brings me back to taking the stuffed animal and throwing in the back seat of my civic hatchback in that parking lot across from the student center.  Good times.
